Much like bad weather swept through the northern region the previous evening, City overwhelmed the visitors away at the Etihad. It was a statement three-nil triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Rebecca Knaak, Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that truly announced their championship potential as they consolidated their place at the top of the table.

Successive Losses for United

This outcome signalled consecutive Women's Super League defeats for Skinner's side for the maiden instance since last May, putting them seven points off the table toppers with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's ability to balance domestic and European soccer with a thin team has been a frequently analyzed topic since they qualified for the European competition.
